Fagioli was awarded the 2020 ESTA (European Association of abnormal road transport and mobile cranes) “Combined Techniques" and “SPMT Job of the Year" awards, held this year online in Amsterdam on the 24th of September 2020 for the best transport and lifting projects executed in 2019.
The "Combined Techniques" prize category was award to Fagioli for the demolition of the Morandi bridge (a project already honored by the SC&RA, the American association for the hauling and rigging activity). Fagioli scope of work was: the dismantling of the bridge sections weighing up to 916 ton with a detailed preparatory phases of securing and functional testing for the fragile items to be removed, by means of state-of-the-art equipment such as strand jacking system, last generation crawler cranes, SPMTs.
The dismantling activities started on the 8th of February 2019 and were completed on the 31st of July 2019: 168 days of uninterrupted works executed in a challenging construction site for a unique operation in the world and under a demanding time schedule imposed by the National Authorities.
The “SPMT Job of the Year" prize category was awarded to Fagioli for the transport and final installation of No. 4 bullets (up to 80 m long, weighing up to 460 ton) from Italy to Croatia. Fagioli was awarded for the intrinsic engineering challenges of the whole project: load out and load in operations onto a narrow quay; the slope and the bends to be faced (up to 15%) up to the storage area; 3.5 km to be covered with several road interventions up to installation area.
